Financial crime operations are being pushed in multiple directions at once: alert volumes are rising, typologies are becoming more complex, regulation is evolving, and experienced headcount is finite.
Traditional “add more analysts” approaches don’t scale, and point solutions that only score transactions or generate risk labels often leave teams with the same bottlenecks downstream.
What firms need now is technology that can move work forward: triage, enrich, route, evidence, draft, quality-check, while keeping control and accountability where it belongs.

Nexus AML was born out of a clear challenge: traditional financial crime resourcing models had become commoditised, costly, and unreliable. Too often, technology didn't align with banks' specific processes, leaving operational experts with tools that didn’t fit the realities of their work. The result was inefficiency, poor value, and outcomes that struggled to stand up to regulatory scrutiny.
However, our journey began well before Nexus AML, when we were known as EFI. Founded in 2017, we built a reputation for delivering large-scale operational support to financial institutions, helping them meet pressing KYC and financial crime demands. Over time, however, it became clear that the market needed more than simply additional resources; firms needed efficient, technology-enabled services that could deliver both quality and value in a consistent, transparent way.
That’s why we evolved. By 2023, we had introduced a cost-per-case model that gave clients predictable, auditable outcomes while allowing them to pay only for what they needed. We built offshore centres in Sri Lanka and the Philippines, not for low cost alone but for the depth and consistency of talent. In Sri Lanka, for example, we achieve retention rates far stronger than the industry average, ensuring stable, well-trained teams and sustained quality delivery. We also built an in-house platform to provide real-time reporting and rigorous quality assurance, reinforcing our commitment to transparency and control. This focus on combining technology, talent, and operational expertise set the stage for the next phase of our evolution.
Today, our focus is on harnessing agentic AI and automation in financial crime operations, using technology not just to enhance efficiency but to independently analyse, decide and adapt in real time. Combined with deep operational expertise, this creates scalable solutions across CDD, screening and transaction monitoring that go beyond simple rule-based processing. We continue to offer both cost-per-case and time-and-materials models, giving clients the flexibility to choose the structure that suits them best. This evolution, where advanced AI meets practical service delivery, is what gave rise to our new identity: Nexus AML.
